The Mainframe DB2 Systems Programmer provides database administration and system support for existing production database environments to include performance of the following related tasks: query writing, configuration, database creation, security, system monitoring and tuning, disaster recovery planning, implementation and backup and recovery.
The primary purpose of the DB2 Systems Programmer is to provide senior-level IBM DB2 technical support (administration, performance, design, and maintenance) for all FNTS Client IBM mainframe-based DB2 applications.

Role and Responsibilities:
10+ years of professional experience in DB2 for administration and systems programming support.
Understand how DB2, CICS, IMS and z/OS interact, and how DB2 supports a WebSphere application environment.
Documented Systems Programming experience supporting spar configurations, buffer pool tuning, applying maintenance through SMP/E, and have successfully migrated DB2 subsystems to a higher Version in a Data Sharing environment.
Knowledge of z/OS Connect and other Query products.
Configure and manage DB2 in a parallel sysplex environment.
Knowledge of Secured Ports in DB2 is needed.
CA and IBM tools for DB2 and other third-party vendor products a plus.
Supporting project management with the implementation of database software upgrades, including testing and implementation with a database provider, application teams, and internal support teams
Required Technical and Professional Expertise:
Knowledge in best practices of software management, maintenance and documentation
Establishing policies and procedures pertaining to database management, DR, security, maintenance and utilization.
Reviewing new versions of DB2 for functionality, advising how they benefit the client.
Supporting DB2 security requests
Review DB2 security to find potential risks
Vendor consultation for problems and questions
Space calculations for new objects and environments
Reviewing, tuning of internal DB2 buffer pools and SQL code
Troubleshooting and solving production database issues
Evaluating change requests and determine impact
DR recovery support
Manage System Change
The ability to work as part of a group and individually
The ability to shuffle priorities in response to a changing workload
The ability to keep up with changing technology through research as assigned by management and independent work
Demonstrate outstanding problem determination and resolution skills working independently from any vendor as needed
